About John Brookhouse
I am a Boston-based UX designer and musician with many years of experience in the technology, games, and advertising spaces.
Figma? Sketch? Adobe XD & CC? No problem. Wireframes? High resolution designs? You got it. The tools are secondary to the design problem you are trying to solve. I have taken the time to learn the ins and outs of user-centered design from start to finish.
Currently, I am applying my UI and UX skills to a software project for Carling Technologies. I work with another UX designer and a development team to create components for a touchscreen interface to be used on boats. Tasks include: designing pixel-perfect interface components in Sketch to hand off to developers, iconography, illustration, and designing new ways to lay out controls that make more sense and look modern and fun.
I’ve spent a good portion of my career in a traditional graphic design role, most recently at Clear Channel Outdoor, where I helped clients create effective out of home advertising (mostly billboards) that increased their brand awareness and sales.
I am also an avid musician and have been active in the Boston music scene for many years. I sing and play guitar in a psychedelic hard rock on an indie label, which releases records and tours in the US and Europe regularly (pre-Covid, anyway). I also host a bi-weekly internet radio show on the exciting new startup Gimme Radio, sharing the music I love and my experiences playing it over the years with listeners all over the globe.
I am looking forward to joining the right team and helping to find a solution to your design problems!
